Presidents of Belarus, Russia exchanged congratulations on Unity Day

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of Russia Vladimir Putin have exchanged congratulations on Unity Day of Peoples of Belarus and Russia, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service

The Chairman of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, noted in a congratulatory message, “The Union State is a unique joint project, an example of the most successful integration in the post-Soviet space. The experience gained over a quarter of a century makes it possible to respond quickly and effectively to the unprecedented challenges and threats faced by our countries, to consolidate and defend common interests in the international arena."

"I am sure that the rich bilateral agenda opens up new prospects for long-term mutually beneficial co-operation, deepening Belarusian-Russian co-operative ties aimed ultimately at increasing the welfare of the citizens of Belarus and Russia," the President of Belarus stressed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Vladimir Putin good health, optimism and success in solving important state tasks.

In turn, Vladimir Putin noted in his congratulatory message, “Recently, despite the difficult international conditions, we have managed to do a lot to develop multifaceted Russian-Belarusian relations and strengthen the institutions of the Union State."

The Russian leader stressed that co-ordination of efforts in the fields of foreign policy, defence and security gives a good return. "The successful implementation of the agreed Union State programmes has ensured the unification of the legislation of Russia and Belarus in the most important areas, created the basis for a unified macroeconomic and monetary policy, as well as for the formation of a common socio-economic space," Vladimir Putin said in his message. “During the January meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State, a new set of measures to promote integration processes was approved."

"I am confident that its consistent implementation meets the fundamental interests of Russians and Belarusians and is in line with strengthening stability and security in the Eurasian space," the Russian President added. "I sincerely wish you good health and success, also wishing happiness and prosperity to the brotherly people of Belarus."

The President of Belarus has also sent congratulations on Unity Day to the Chairman of the Government of Russia, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Union State Mikhail Mishustin, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matvienko, the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev, and Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.
