According to the news agency, 418 deputies voted in favour of the document, four deputies voted against the resolution, 15 abstained, and 22 did not take part in the vote.

The text of the resolution says that the Sejm calls on the German authorities to take political, historical, legal and financial responsibility for all the consequences caused to Poland and its population as a result of WWII unleashed by the Third Reich.

The authors of the document drew attention to the fact that Poland never received compensation from Germany and stressed that ‘the Polish state has never abandoned its claims to the German state’.

“The claim that these demands are lawfully withdrawn or overdue has no grounds whatsoever – neither moral nor legal,” the deputies believe.

Earlier, the leader of the ruling Law and Justice party in Poland, Jarosław Kaczyński, said that Nazi Germany caused $1.3 trillion in damage to Poland. In turn, Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki said that the country would issue a diplomatic note to Germany to negotiate reparations. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz drew attention to the fact that the issue of reparations to Poland for the German government is legally closed.
