Petition demanding to ban the use of depleted uranium ammunition posted on Zelenskyy's website
A petition has been posted on the website of the Ukrainian President’s Office demanding to prohibit the country’s Armed Forces from using depleted uranium shells, which the UK intends to supply to Kiev, RIA Novosti reports
The petition was posted on March 27th, and it gained about 30 votes by early March 28th. For the document to be considered, 25 thousand votes are needed.
The text reads that the use of the shells in question is a crime against all mankind and the planet. The use of such ammunition is called unacceptable and immoral. “We demand to consider this petition positively and take security measures to exclude the use of such ammunition by the Armed Forces of Ukraine until the final consideration of the petition," the document reads.
Earlier, the UK’s Deputy Defence Minister, Annabel Goldie, said that London would transfer Challenger 2 tanks and armour-piercing sub-calibre shells with depleted uranium to Kiev.
