Over the past decade, about 15,000 children from abroad recuperated in Belarus
Over the past ten years, about 15,000 children from abroad have improved their health in Belarus – as noted by Head of the Main Department of Educational Work and Youth Policy of the Education Ministry Viktor Dovnar at a briefing at the National Press Centre
“A sufficiently developed system of health improvement has been created in the republic, enabling us not only to meet our domestic needs, but also to improve the health of children from abroad,” he said. “This is not a new tradition; it is more than twenty years old. In the last decade alone, about 15,000 children from abroad have improved their health. The geography is diverse: Russia, Uzbekistan, Israel, Poland, Moldova, Lithuania, Latvia, and Syria.”
Viktor Dovnar noted that due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, a number of projects were suspended.
“But now these projects are being resumed, and work continues,” he added. “One of the latest examples: in late May and early June, two delegations from Syria improved their health at the Zubrenok National Children's Educational and Health Centre, which is the flagship in this area. However, children from abroad undergo rehabilitation in each of the regions of the country.”
The Education Ministry representative stressed that children from abroad can use the same services as their Belarusian peers: health improvement, participation in cultural and educational events, various projects. There are many various profile directions: artistic, patriotic, sports, etc.
