Over 28% of minors in Italy at risk of poverty
According to the data released by Italy’s National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT), more than 28 percent of children and adolescents under 16 in Italy are at risk of poverty and social exclusion, TASS reports
It is reported that almost half of children and adolescents (46.6 percent) live in the southern parts of the country and on the islands. While in the centre (21.4 percent) and in the north of the country (18.3 percent) their number is almost half that.
It is also noted that foreign minors are at greatest risk in Italy: 41.5 percent compared to 26.9 percent among Italian minors. The largest number of financially disadvantaged children and adolescents of foreign origin live in the south (almost 90 percent).
