Opinion: NATO needs a war, but they understand it is impossible to defeat Belarus and Russia
Belarus’ opponents have no choice but to try to organise terrorist attacks on the country’s territory, but such attempts are always stopped – as noted by a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Oleg Gaidukevich, while commenting on the recent elimination of a terrorist in Grodno

In his talk with the ONT TV channel, Mr. Gaidukevich said that Belarus’ opponents had tried all sorts of methods to split Belarus, “The sanctions have failed, Belarus and Russia have not collapsed. It is impossible to defeat Belarus and Russia in a military way. It is a delusion to think that NATO does not want a war and does not attack us because everyone needs peace. They need a war, and Ukraine is an example of that. They do not attack us just because they know that it is impossible to defeat us, it will be their collapse. It is also impossible to shake up the domestic political situation. Instead of observing a split, we witness the unity of Belarusians and Russians around their leaders. Accordingly, only terrorism and extremism remain.”
The MP recalled that the Belarusian special services’ heads and the President had earlier warned that the country’s opponents would use such dirty methods. “This is because there is no other way to shake up the situation and intimidate the population. They promised to drink champagne on the square at the end of 2020, and then said that there would be early elections and everything would collapse in 2021. Later they said that we would die after the introduction of a dozen of packages of sanctions. What can they see instead? [They observe] the development of integration, strengthening of the economy and the Armed Forces," he added.
Mr. Gaidukevich stressed that there had been earlier attempts of terrorist attacks in Belarus, “Since 2020, our special services have prevented many of them. Each terrorist, extremist and their accomplices should know: they will be very lucky if they are simply detained and sentenced to life imprisonment in Belarus.”
According to the MP, there is nothing more important for the Belarusian authorities than the safety of citizens and a peaceful sky over their heads.
