Opinion: Belarus maintains stability and develops economy in conditions of international turbulence
Despite the sanctions war of the West against the economy of Belarus, the latter continues developing – as noted by Aleksei Avdonin, an analyst at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, in his talk with the Belarus 1 channel
According to the expert, in conditions of the global economic storm, only those countries survive that do not drift, but constantly develop their economies. “Despite the sanctions war of the West against the economy of Belarus, our country is developing. According to the National Bank, in H1 2023, Belarus’ GDP increased by 2 percent in comparable prices against the same period of last year. At the same time, in June 2023, GDP growth reached almost 8 percent compared to the corresponding month of 2022,” he explained.
Mr. Avdonin noted that the economic growth is provided by positive dynamics in agriculture, industry, construction, and trade, “This indicates that Belarus’ economy continues to adapt to the new conditions of functioning, when the confrontation is growing and Western sanctions are intensifying. Meanwhile, we cannot be inactive, we need to work in a new way.”
