Sergeyenko to BNTU students: today we’re writing new chapter of our history
Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus’ National Assembly Igor Sergeyenko has met with students of the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) Faculty of Transport Communications as part of the House of Representatives’ Youth for Belarus! information and awareness-rising campaign
“The aim of the Youth for Belarus! project us to meet with you, young people, to highlight the current situation in the country and our achievements, to cite the factors that affect the state of national security,” Mr. Sergeyenko emphasised.
This project was created on the initiative of the House of Representatives deputies and is aimed at students, primarily at leaders of youth organisations and first-year students.
The main focus is on the achievements of modern Belarus, the prospects of socio-economic and socio-political development of the country.
“Today we are writing a new chapter of our history. The Presidential election of the Republic of Belarus will be held on January 26th, and many of you will take part. Election is an important political event. The choice should be conscious, for the sake of the future of our country, which we determine and build ourselves,” Mr. Sergeyenko added.
The speaker’s meeting with the students was thematically diverse. During the dialogue platform, the parties discussed what is happening in the country, the international situation, as well as national and information security. The importance of media literacy of each of us was underlined.
On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the Chairman of the House of Representatives touched upon the theme of the Great Patriotic War, noting how important it is to remember the lessons of the past and appreciate peace.
Students of one of Belarus’ oldest universities were also able to ask Igor Sergeyenko their questions. The range of topics was wide: the introduction of modern technologies in the election process, interaction between universities, the construction of highways in Belarus, work with citizens’ appeals, personal receptions and others.
