Russia, Belarus invited to participate in Asian Games
The Olympic Council of Asia invited Belarus and Russia to take part in the Asian Games – as reported on the official website of the organisation
The statement reads that the council believes in the unifying power of sport and that all athletes – regardless of their nationality or passport – should be able to compete in sports. “The Olympic Council of Asia proposed to provide Russian and Belarusian athletes with the opportunity to take part in competitions in Asia, including the Asian Games,” the Olympic Council of Asia noted.
The next Asian Games will be held in the Chinese city of Hangzhou from September 23rd to October 8th this year. They were originally supposed to take place last year, but the competition was postponed due to the new type of coronavirus pandemic.
