Olympic committees of Belarus, Oman officially signed memorandum of co-operation in Minsk
The Olympic committees of Belarus and Oman have officially signed a memorandum of co-operation in Minsk, sb.by reports citing Belarus’ NOC Telegram channel
The signing ceremony was attended by President of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko and Head of the Oman Olympic Committee Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Zubair. The parties formalised the previously reached agreements on the development of bilateral co-operation in the field of sports. Both committees are ready to expand liaisons and strengthen friendly relations in order to promote Olympic values, develop mass and high performance sports of the two countries.
“We are open to you with all our heart. We will show our sports capabilities and offer various options for further co-operation. But the main thing I want to say is that with you we are opening a new page in the development of sports and sports relations between our countries,” stressed Viktor Lukashenko. “You have a lot of young people who love sports and are engaged in sports, and we propose to start our interaction by holding joint events: training camps and competitions both in our region and yours.”
Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Zubair expressed gratitude for the warm welcome of the Omani delegation in Belarus and noted the importance of joining efforts in the field of sports. “We are very pleased to visit Belarus and have been looking forward to this visit,” he said. “This co-operation is especially valuable and useful for us: you have a lot of experience and serious achievements in the field of sports.”
It is reported that the main areas of co-operation, including through interested sports federations, will be: participation of athletes in bilateral and multi-sport competitions in the territories of the two countries, organisation of joint training camps, mutual exchange of sports specialists (coaches, doctors and experts), interaction in the field of children’s and youth sports, participation in congresses, conferences, seminars and courses, exchange of experience in the field of construction and maintenance of sports facilities, sports medicine, marketing, organisation of sports events and much more.
According to the NOC, in the coming days the delegation from Oman will get acquainted with our sports infrastructure in detail. The delegation plans to visit the Minsk Arena multi-purpose cultural and sports complex, the Palace of Rhythmic Gymnastics, the Water Sports Centre, a sports and shooting complex, a golf club and other facilities.
