Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris to replace several historical stained glass windows
Six historical stained glass windows of the 19th century in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris will be replaced by modern ones by 2026, RIA Novosti reports
“French artist Claire Tabouret has been chosen to create new stained glass windows for Notre Dame Cathedral. These new stained glass windows are to replace by 2026 six of the seven stained glass windows in the chapels of the cathedral’s south aisle by 19th century architect Eugene Viollet-le-Duc,” Agence France-Presse reports, citing the Elysee Palace.
It is noted that this initiative was launched by French President Emmanuel Macron, who wants to leave a ‘modern mark’ on the cathedral, which was restored after the fire in 2019.
