Last year, the EU car market decreased by 4.6 percent, and experts believe that was due to problems with the supply of components. "Its volume [of the market] amounted to 9.3m cars, which was the lowest figure since 1993, when 9.2m vehicles were registered,” the report says.

Moreover, compared to 2021, total sales of new cars in the European Union decreased by about 444,000.

The biggest drop was registered in Denmark (20.0 percent), Lithuania (18.8 percent) and Finland (17.0 percent), and the largest automotive players also demonstrated negative dynamics: Italy (9.7 percent), France (7.8 percent) and Spain (5.4 percent).

In turn, Germany was the only country which managed to improve its figures in 2022: its market grew by 1.1 percent.
