National Bank: Belarus’ trade surplus at $480.7m in late 2023
In late 2023, Belarus’ foreign trade surplus in goods and services totaled $480.7m, with foreign trade turnover exceeding $95bn – 6.8 percent up against the previous year, according to the statistics posted on the National Bank’s website
According to the National Bank, in general for 2023, the trade deficit in goods totalled $2.4bn, with imports of goods standing at $41.7bn and exports of goods amounting to $39.4bn. In December 2023, trade deficit in goods made up $532.5m – 13.7 percent down compared to December 2022.
The trade deficit in goods was compensated by trade surplus in services, which was $2.8bn in 2023. At the same time, the balance of services is improving for the second month in a row, standing at $274.1m in December 2023. In general, in late 2023, exports of services amounted to $8.5bn, while imports of services made up $5.7bn.
