Myasnikovich: agreed plan of joint actions with SCO Secretariat will be signed in near future
The Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Mikhail Myasnikovich, has announced the imminent signing of a joint action plan with the Secretariat of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation
While speaking at the NPP-SCO-BRICS: Open Integration Dialogue panel discussion in Moscow as part of the 2nd Eurasian Economic Forum, Mr. Myasnikovich stressed that the EEC is concerned about the fact that a number of the world's leading economies are focused on separate development. "In turn, we strive to unite our economies on the basis of a synergetic approach, mutual complementarity and combining existing competencies and capabilities in our Eurasian macro-region,” he said. "In this situation, the EEC and the SCO General Secretariat have prepared a plan of [joint] actions until 2025. It will be signed in the near future, and we will be guided by it in our practical activities.”
According to Mr. Myasnikovich, the ideas of co-operative relations with international organisations are supported by business. The Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission mentioned data according to which the volume of foreign trade of the EAEU members with the SCO and BRICS states increased by more than 40 percent over the past year, and exports of the Eurasian Economic Union to these states rose 1.6-fold. Since 2015, the share of the SCO and BRICS in trade turnover with the EAEU has increased from 16 to 30 percent.
“The indicator of imports in trade with the EU decreased by 11 percent, but this figure has been covered by an increase in trade and economic relations with the countries of Southeast Asia. Accordingly, the structure of the EAEU external relations has been reoriented from the west to the east. This has become possible due to an active work both at the bilateral and multilateral levels aimed to form free trade zones and also agreements on trade and economic co-operation," Mr. Myasnikovich stressed.
