MP on Union State military doctrine: it is extremely important
Belarus and Russia intend to ensure their security reliably, and the countries are consistently enhancing co-operation within the framework of the unified military doctrine of the Union State – as stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Oleg Gaidukevich, in his talk with Alfa Radio
Speaking of a new security concept of the Union State, the MP stressed that co-operation between Belarus and Russia in the field of security is extremely important. “I think every politician, military or security expert has an understanding now that there will never come a time when they will not want to destroy us. We will always be envied – as long as planet Earth exists. They will envy the territory of the Union State, its rich natural resources and rare earth metals. They want to take everything from us: our smart people and our wealth. They want to divide our territory into pieces, to ruin it. Belarus will ever be in the focus of their attention, since it is impossible to get to Russia in the western direction without our country. This is an axiom. Belarus is like the Brest Fortress during the Great Patriotic War: our people will selflessly defend it. They will not succeed until we are strong. As long as Belarus exists as an independent and sovereign state, Russia is also much stronger. Therefore, our security concept is guided by the truth that they will never leave us in peace,” he said.
Mr. Gaidukevich added that the concept also takes into account risks and new threats, including not only military ones, “They will never go directly to military aggression, they are afraid of us. NATO avoids military confrontation in every possible way at present, but commits terrorist attacks and extremism with the help of others: i.e. Ukrainians, Poles, and Lithuanians. They want to destroy us from the inside. Therefore, we take into account these threats, as well as electoral ones. We will soon launch a presidential race. They will try to break us up, split and destroy the country in some way – using the elections in Russia and Belarus against us.”
The MP also focused on the topic of economic threats. “There will always be sanctions. They will always try to limit our goods, prevent us from making money. None of them will love us, and we do not need this. It is necessary to be feared and respected, they simply should not meddle in our affairs. We – Belarusians and Russians – are unique peoples, we are not going to threaten anyone and have never done this. We want others to stay out of our way and not intervene into someone else’s business,” Mr. Gaidukevich concluded.
