MP on EU crisis: Europe’s prosperous life passing
Against the background of sanctions imposed against Russia and Belarus, the standard of living in Western countries is falling – as noted by Natalia Glinskaya, a member of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development, sb.by reports
Commenting on the crisis ongoing in the European Union, the MP noted, “It is obvious that the large-scale sanctions against Russia and Belarus, which the European Union is introducing at the instigation of the United States, will have serious consequences for Europe itself and the global economy. Nevertheless, the European politicians are maniacally ready to chop down the branch they are sitting on. With its recent actions and statements, the European Union has shown that they do not have their own opinion: they are acting at the behest of the United States. The rash moves of politicians are more likely to hit their own national interests, their own economies, and the well-being of their citizens.”
Ms. Glinskaya stressed that the prosperous life of Europe is passing. Moreover, against the background of sanctions against Russia and Belarus, the standard of living in Western countries is falling. “European politicians are already warning their voters that, in the near future, they will have to give up many things they are used to. Almost a third of Europeans believe that they are in a deplorable financial situation. Eighty percent of EU citizens have already faced a situation where they had to make difficult choices due to lack of money,” she said.
Europe has already faced the primary losses caused by sanctions. Moreover, gasoline and gas prices are hitting historical highs. Ms. Glinskaya added, “There are already calls for citizens to ration gas, reduce the temperature in houses and apartments to save money. In the UK, a record rise in utility prices is expected. There are protests in France again. European farmers and entrepreneurs are on edge. Germans protest through their ‘tractor riots’. Truckers in Spain are ready for strikes. The price increase is updating historical highs in all European countries. Germany, the recent flagship of the European economy, is doing the worst. Businesses are leaving the Old World, and the latter can forget about cheap energy from Russia, as well as about the Chinese market, which is turning away from the EU. This is only a small part of the examples of the destruction of the European economy against the background of sanctions imposed against Russia and Belarus.”
In fact, the main loss caused by these sanctions is that they have proved ineffective against the economies of the Union State members. Ms. Glinskaya noted that, despite the pressure from the collective West, the Belarusian economy has survived and continues to develop successfully, demonstrating high growth rates.
“The Belarusian economic model, which has shown its stability and effectiveness, allows not only to increase the well-being of the population, but also to accumulate a financial safety cushion for the state, eliminate the state budget deficit. As we can see, the economy of Belarus is recovering. The country has managed to refocus and become stronger. No one will be able to destroy it! The Head of State noted that Belarus is not a poor country, despite the absence of rich natural deposits or banks full of money. The President believes that the Belarusian state is actually rich thanks to its people, thanks to those who have gathered around the national leader and are ready to devote all their efforts to the development and prosperity of their beloved homeland,” the MP stated.
