MP: in pandemic times, Belarus’ President did not deprive citizens of freedom, as it was done in Europe
Belarus acted as a truly sovereign state during the coronavirus pandemic – as noted by a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Oleg Gaidukevich, in his talk with SB TV

This year, the Nobel Prize in Medicine was awarded for the study of RNA for COVID-19 vaccines.
“This topic is quite tricky, I think that not everything is clear with it. I am very glad that our President decided not to force people to get vaccinated, did not close the borders and imposed strict quarantine requirements. Many European politicians eared money on vaccination of their citizens, and millions of Dollars were pocketed by lobbying for mass vaccination," Mr. Gaidukevich noted.
The MP added that everyone forgot about the coronavirus immediately after the special operation in Ukraine began, “After the beginning of the special military operation, the whole of Europe and the world was cured of the coronavirus in just one day. All restrictions were lifted. People were dying, I never said there was no pandemic. The question is that it was skilfully used by politicians to manage people. Whole countries were quarantined. People were deprived of their freedom, as I see it. In turn, Belarus gave a choice to its citizens, and I am proud of our President. Politicians from different countries still come to me and say, “In the era of COVID-19, we saw that Belarus proved itself as a real sovereign state." We had a vaccination campaign, our hospitals worked, and everything was being done to cure our people – but a choice was given: Belarusians independently decided whether to get vaccinated or not, no one forced them.”
According to Mr. Gaidukevich, vaccination issues are quite complex, so doctors should better comment on the topic. “Meanwhile, we saw how politicians talked about it. Just recall how our President behaved competently, how he held meetings, listened to doctors, took their views into consideration. In turn, there [in Europe] a politician came out, he needed to sell a million vaccines – and general vaccination followed,” the MP added.
