MP: Belarusian-Chinese co-operation will continue strengthening
China is now developing due to the domestic consumption growth and an increase in the standard of living in its central provinces. In this regard, the capacity of the Chinese market and its solvency are constantly growing, thus creating good conditions for Belarusian exports to China, especially since our countries enjoy a very high level of bilateral relations. Sergei Klishevich, a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, shared his views.
“The importance of such co-operation will grow against the conditions when the United States is trying to close the transit of Chinese goods by land and to force its satellites in Asia and Europe to curtail trade chains with China. Accordingly, all factors are being supplemented by freeing of certain niches of the Chinese market: i.e. in terms of the goods previously supplied to China by Eastern Europe – a region similar to us in terms of the production line," the deputy stressed.
According to Mr. Klishevich, from the point of view of logistics, it is clear that – due to the problems in Ukraine and the crisis in the EU – not the East-West trade direction will develop, but the North–South corridor. The latter envisages a path from the ports of St. Petersburg to India and China.
“Belarus is located next to this new corridor, and it will also take an active part in it. In the future, this will ensure cheaper transportation of Belarusian goods and an increase in the speed of their delivery 1.5-2 times,” the deputy added.
Commenting on Belarus’ participation in the Shanghai International Import Expo, Mr. Klishevich recalled the greeting that the Head of State had sent on occasion of the forum’s opening. The parliamentarian is convinced this indicates the strategic importance of this direction for Belarus.
