During today’s CIS informal summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited the CIS leaders to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in Moscow, BelTA reports
The Russian leader recalled that next year a landmark anniversary – the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory – will be celebrated. The CIS declared 2025 the Year of Peace and Unity in Fight against Nazism.
“The CIS member states remember and piously honour the immortal feat of the peoples of the entire Soviet Union, who, fighting shoulder to shoulder, forged victory in the Great Patriotic War,” Vladimir Putin emphasised. “Paying tribute to veterans and home front workers who defended our freedom and independence, we must strive to preserve the historical truth about the events of those years, the memory of the cost of liberating the world from Nazism. We must strive to promote the perception of the victory won in 1945 as a common value for all mankind.”
The Russian President has invited the CIS heads of state to the anniversary celebrations to be held in Moscow on May 9th. “We also expect that military formations from the CIS countries will be able to take part in the parade on Red Square,” he added.
