Belarus is paying serious attention to the development of inter-parliamentary co-operation with Pakistan – as stated by the Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives, Sergei Rachkov, sb.by reports
Mr. Rachkov noted that, at a recent meeting of the Council of the House of Representatives, deputies discussed co-operation between Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the context of implementing agreements following the visit of the Speaker of the Parliament of Pakistan to Belarus.
“We have developed a very constructive and trusting relationship with Pakistan, and it was confirmed by the Speaker's visit to Belarus. Over that period, we have analysed how the contractual and legal framework of our liaisons works. Actually, we have about 90 international treaties in force. Of course, we are focusing on facilitating the government's work in the trade and economic sphere, with an emphasis on industrial and agricultural co-operation,” Mr. Rachkov said.
The MP added that Belarus’ trade with Pakistan has been developing dynamically recently. “We have considered co-operation with Pakistan at the level of parliamentarians. We have very good prospects, and the Pakistani side is interested in such interaction. Friendship groups have been established between the two parliaments. We have also joined the work of our intergovernmental commission and various thematic working groups that have been established within the framework of this commission," Mr. Rachkov explained.
