Moscow and Kiev agreed on joint protection of Chernobyl NPP

Russia has reached an agreement with the Ukrainian military on joint provision of security at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant – as reported by RIA Novosti

“Taking control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant by the Russian military does not damage its safety. An agreement has been reached with the military personnel of the Ukrainian branch of the station security battalion on joint provision of security of the power units and the sarcophagus,” said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during today’s briefing.

She also added that they will continue to do everything to ensure the security of this facility.
