Military expert explained why EU and US don’t want to view Minsk as negotiating venue
The European Union and the United States do not see Minsk as a convenient platform for negotiations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, because this is contrary to the line of conduct of the collective West – as stated by the Editor-in-Chief of the Natsionalnaya Oborona (National Defence) magazine, Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko, in his talk with Belarus 1 TV channel
“The very fact of holding negotiations on the Belarusian territory is an increase in the status of the Republic of Belarus. This is an opportunity to present Minsk as an efficient negotiator, a mediator, and, of course, this is the involvement of Belarus in the global processes of world order. Obviously, Minsk is not viewed either in the EU or in the US as a convenient negotiating platform. Therefore, I think, due to these circumstances, it turned out that the further course of the negotiation process has moved to the Turkish territory. In any case, we are grateful to Belarus for the working conditions that were provided, for the entire logistics and transport infrastructure. Moreover, we appreciate the friendly participation and support of fraternal Belarus,” commented the expert.
