Microsoft CEO: AI self-improvement risks not to be ruled out
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said he doesn’t rule out uncontrolled self-improvement of artificial intelligence, TASS reports
Answering a question from a French journalist who asked if an AI could ever become sentient and start making decisions for humans, Mr. Nadella said, “I do not rule out possibilities related to potential uncontrolled AI growth and self-improvement.”
The businessman also drew attention to the need to ‘lay the foundation for responsible development’ of the AI technology.
He believes the term ‘artificial intelligence’ is not entirely correct. “I would rather say we create a different intelligence. It supplements human intelligence, not replaces it,” he explained.
According to documents provided to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Microsoft has a ‘long-term partnership’ with OpenAI, developers of generative artificial intelligence-based bot ChatGPT. The tech giant invested $13bn into OpenAI; now they introduce these models into their ‘consumer and corporate products’.
