Media: Turkiye plans to create military base in Libyan Khoms
Turkish media reported that the country allegedly took a long-term lease of the Libyan port of Khoms, where it will create a military base. There are no official comments of the Turkish authorities on the issue yet, RIA Novosti reports.
Haber7 cited its sources to report that Turkiye had leased the port of Khoms, located on the Mediterranean coast of Libya, for 99 years to create a military base.
"With the help of the military base, it is planned to strengthen Turkiye’s sovereignty in the Eastern Mediterranean, enhance control over Turkish territorial waters and ensure the safety of merchant ships," the portal informed.
It is also noted that the Turkish national UAV complexes and air defence systems that ensured the success of the operation in Libya are planned to be deployed at the military base.
