Lutsky: invitation of Belarus to BRICS Summit due to many years of Lukashenko’s international activity
The invitation of Belarus to the BRICS Summit has been not a spontaneous decision, but the result of many years of the international activity by President Aleksandr Lukashenko – as stated by Igor Lutsky, the Chairman of the Board of the Second National TV Channel, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, in his talk with Alfa Radio
As noted by Mr. Lutsky, the BRICS Summit in Kazan is an important event where a wide range of issues are discussed. “These are primary the issues of war and peace,” he explained. “The BRICS founding countries also take economic issues seriously, and we should do justice to Russia that is holding this summit – doing this at a high level, as we see. President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko is participating in the event, and the invitation of our country has actually become not a spontaneous decision: it is the result of many years of the international activity by the Head of State.”
The MP expressed the opinion that the keys to peace in Europe are in Minsk. “This is because our city has always been a negotiating platform, we have always said that it is better to talk and come to agreements than to fight. We see that today’s meeting of the BRICS members indicates that all the leaders invited (who represent the territories that occupy almost a third of the Earth) have chosen the path not of war, but of peace, they advocate a diplomatic solution to problems,” Mr. Lutsky said.
Commenting on whether it is possible to assert that Belarus acts as an anchor within BRICS since it stands for a multipolar world and equal co-operation, the Chairman of the Board of the Second National TV Channel noted, “Belarus has been able to maintain peace for a long time, despite a difficult geopolitical situation. Some parties wish that this corridor of peace did not exist. Poles wonder what should be done so that there is no Belarus between Ukraine and the Baltic States. Meanwhile, we are showing them all that we have been preserving our sovereignty for 30 years. In his speeches, our President proclaims that the preservation of peace on the planet is the preservation of sovereignty and the Belarusian nation as such. Therefore, it is very important that Aleksandr Lukashenko is taking part in this significant international forum, where political and economic issues are being discussed. This situation actually worries those who are not represented there. Look at what powerful leaders are among the BRICS members. These are not strange European personalities who are actually wasting the potential of Europe that it had after the Second World War. All the other BRICS member countries have made themselves, rising from ashes. Earlier, they were called the second world countries. Look at China, Russia and India: these states are setting trends today. Therefore, Belarus’ participation as a partner country in the BRICS Summit is of special importance. We see that the world is not limited to the West, but it wants and will develop. The creation of a system of payments and secondary sanctions are in focus. It’s actually blessing in disguise, as people say.”
