Lukashenko: Western intolerance towards our values is a challenge to Belarusian statehood and sovereignty

The West is sculpting an enemy out of Belarus because it is afraid of our values – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at a solemn meeting dedicated to Independence Day

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed, “Why is the West again sculpting an enemy out of us? It’s afraid of us, but not in the sense that we are ‘aggressors’. We are dangerous for it because of the authority, independence and strength of the Belarusian state. In the end, and this is the most important thing, because of our example. An example of the absence of a gap between rich and poor, an example of social security for all citizens, an example of a healthy society and traditional values, as well as many other achievements of the Belarusian people that appeal to ordinary Europeans and Americans.”

According to the President, the Western elites are afraid that tomorrow their people will take to the streets and say the final ‘no!’ to their neoliberal values, “They’re already on the streets. Only we are not told through their media what ordinary people are fighting against in France, Belgium and other countries. They are fighting to say ‘no’. They want to live normally.”

The President noted that Western values divide society into castes, give privileges to the elect, throw peoples into an immoral and soulless abyss in pursuit of profit, “Stronger than this fear is the Anglo-Saxon greed and thirst for conquest – known since ancient times. The natural riches and expanses of the East Slavic lands still keep them waking.”

The Belarusian Head of State said that the virus of hatred for everything Slavic is transmitted from generation to generation, “Along with the words ‘slave’ and ‘Slav’ – which sound almost identical in languages from English and German to Swedish and French. The intolerance of Western politicians towards our values, their views on our material and human resources are challenges to our statehood and sovereignty. I think you understand that.”
