President’s Aide on tasks for Mogilev Region: working with staff and development of south-eastern territories

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has appointed Sergei Nalivaiko, who until today worked as Taxes and Duties Minister, the President’s Aide, Inspector for the Mogilev Region. The appointee shared with journalists what he would pay attention to in his new position in the first place.

Outlining the tasks set by the President, Sergei Nalivaiko said that together with the governor, representatives of the executive vertical of power, the Head of State’s authorised representative in the Mogilev Region (Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi), he would constructively build interaction with local authorities through work with personnel.

“From the point of view of the eastern areas’ peculiarities, we can say about the Mogilev Region that there is a kind of symbiosis: industry is quite well developed, while at the same time agriculture makes a serious contribution to the gross regional product. Here we need to work on both components, which is what we will do,” Sergei Nalivaiko commented.

In 2015, the President signed Decree No. 235 On the Socio-Economic Development of the South-Eastern Districts of the Mogilev Region. Thus, seven districts — Krichev, Klimovichi, Krasnopolie, Kostyukovichi, Slavgorod, Cherikov and Khotimsk — received a new impetus for moving forward, new prospects for development and creation of favourable living conditions for the population. Over the past time, about Br2bn have been invested in the region under this programme. Answering a question from journalists whether a certain district is dragging the entire region down or whether it should be considered as a reserve for growth, Sergei Nalivaiko shared his opinion, “Any difficulties provide opportunities for growth, so I would not say that some districts are ‘dragging down’. Each district has its own zest, the task is to find it and unlock its potential to contribute to the overall result.”

Referring to the question about personal approaches to personnel work, Sergei Nalivaiko shared his principles, “Personnel approaches are very simple: adherence to principles, honesty, full dedication to the cause. There should not be, and cannot be, any nepotism or cover-up in our country. Everything here is predictable, stable and clear.”
