Lukashenko on powerful growth factor for Vitebsk Region
During today’s Dazhynki-2024 regional festival-fair in Polotsk, Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko revealed what exactly will become a powerful growth factor for the Vitebsk Region
The Head of State noted that in the pursuit of progress, we should not forget about the environment, ‘especially in the Vitebsk Region, which is famous as a land of protected forests, pristine blue lakes and untouched swamps’, “We should not move away from what has become a national brand — respect for nature. While others simply adopt declarations and hold conferences, we grow forests, restore rare animals, maintain biodiversity and produce clean products. We should continue to do this here, in the Vitebsk Region. This brand should be promoted in every possible way and used skilfully. Tourism in the Vitebsk Region, especially rural tourism, is a powerful growth factor that has untapped potential.”
According to the President, it is not enough to have natural resources; a modern and attractive infrastructure is needed.
“It is necessary to truly open the Braslav lakes, the upper marshes of Yelnya, therapeutic mud and mineral waters, as well as St. Sophia Cathedral, the St. Saviour Monastery of St. Yevfrosiniya and other unique monuments to the world. We have the necessary experience: the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk grandiose festival has long become world famous,” the Head of State emphasised.
Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that the Vitebsk Region is famous for its ancient history, natural beauty and traditions, which the inhabitants of the region cherish and multiply, “Moreover, it is also a legendary partisan area, where the memory of the heroes who defended the freedom and independence of our Homeland is carefully preserved. Today, this is more important than ever, along with peace and tranquillity on our land, the value of which we know very well and which we much protect with all our might.”
