Lukashenko: US addressing with requests to expand diplomatic presence in Belarus
The United States is asking Belarus to expand the staff at its embassy in Minsk – as noted by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko in a brief interview with Rossiya TV channel on the side-lines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting in the Leningrad Region of the Russian Federation, BelTA reports
Commenting on the updated recommendations of the American authorities, who again called on their citizens to refrain from travelling to Belarus and leave the country immediately, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that Belarus has no worries in this regard.
“We have practically no Americans [in the republic], but you should know that they have been asking us over the past year to increase their staff at the embassy – therefore, your question has come out of the blue. We do not keep hold of anyone in Belarus. It is up to them to decide whether to stay with us or not. Actually, there are just 0.2 people of them [in Belarus]," the President said.
