Lukashenko: Minsk intends to develop partnership relations with Bratislava in wide range of areas
On behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated President of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini and Prime Minister Robert Fico on the occasion of the national holiday: Republic Day, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service
"We share common pages of the heroic struggle against fascism, many years of successful and fruitful co-operation, strong and stable business, social, and humanitarian contacts,” the congratulatory message addressed to the President of Slovakia reads. "Despite the stereotypes and artificial barriers in the European region, all paths are open for our countries and peoples to establish friendly and mutually beneficial relations."
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that Minsk intends to develop partnership and friendly relations with Bratislava in a wide range of areas. "Therefore, I propose to co-ordinate through diplomatic channels in the near future a plan of priority steps to resume our co-operation with a focus on projects in the field of trade, investment and industrial liaisons,” the President noted.
In his congratulatory message to Prime Minister Robert Fico, the Head of State stressed that Belarus is an open country focused on fruitful and mutually beneficial co-operation with friendly Slovakia. "It is necessary not only for our peoples and economies. The movement forwards despite the imposed barriers is in high demand in the region. Minsk and Bratislava can and should convince everyone that direct dialogue is always better than confrontation," the congratulatory message reads. “The path is not easy, but judging by your actions and statements, I believe that we can do anything. I am sure you have no doubt about the seriousness of Belarus' intentions to promote the resumption of peaceful co-operation in Europe."
Taking into account Robert Fico's personal commitment to preserving the historical memory of the ancestors’ feat, Aleksandr Lukashenko invited the Prime Minister of Slovakia to visit Minsk and the Brest Fortress on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory in May 2025 or at any other time convenient for him.
