Lukashenko: updated National Security Concept is part of forward-thinking work
A geopolitical interest in Belarus on the part of the West has been demonstrated for more than a century, and the technologies and methods of conducting hybrid wars are being improved – as noted by the President at today’s meeting of the Security Council
Addressing the meeting participants, Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke of the growing challenges and threats coming from outside.
“You see that the cold war elements have returned to the modern international agenda: these are arms race and a nuclear blackmail by some leaders of the Western states. There is an obvious increase in the threats of aggressive nationalism and extremism in various forms of their manifestation. The ideology of neo-fascism is also raising its head. The risks of drug distribution, human trafficking, and illegal migration – which are also used to achieve political goals –are not decreasing. The trend towards global cultural unification, including with focus on non-traditional developments, is threatening the foundations of the national state: our moral principles, original values, and historical memory. This is happening against the background of ecosystem depletion, lack of resources, global climate change, increasing environmental pressure, demographic crisis, and the danger of a new wave of various pandemics,” the Head of State said.
According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, all these threats did not emerge yesterday, “A geopolitical interest in Belarus on the part of the Western hegemon has been observed for more than a century, but the technologies and methods of conducting hybrid wars are constantly being improved. We need to look even further and be proactive in our work. With this in view, I ordered to modernise the National Security Concept during the 6th Belarusian People's Congress.
