Lukashenko told how Belarus sees the development of relations with Asian, African and Latin American countries
Belarus hopes to build efficient relations and intensify ties with the countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at the ceremony of presentation of credentials by foreign ambassadors. He briefly dwelled on co-operation with each of the countries represented by the diplomats.
Asia
The Head of State drew attention that Belarus has long-standing friendly relations with the states of Asia.
He welcomed the Ambassador of fraternal Tajikistan, “We have had strong ties with this country since the days of the Soviet Union. And although more than one generation of Belarusians and Tajiks has changed, the bonds of friendship and brotherhood have never been broken. This is also facilitated by our long-standing friendly relations with your President Emomali Rahmon, who has done a lot to strengthen the Belarusian-Tajik partnership. I wish you a successful cadence and fruitful work for the benefit of your country.”
Belarus has special relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Minsk and Tehran have always deeply understood each other, being under the yoke of unfair and illegal sanctions. The Belarusian leader underlined, “We consider your state as an important international player with a huge economic potential. Today our collaboration is entering a new stage.”
Our country has always considered the Kingdom of Thailand as one of the promising partners in Southeast Asia. “We are well aware that the current level of trade does not correspond to the existing potential. We see significant opportunities for expanding bilateral liaisons in industry, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals, which could be facilitated by the intensification of Belarusian-Thai contacts and the exchange of visits at various levels,” noted the President.
We have many examples of successful interaction with the Republic of Korea across various areas: in trade and investment, science and technology, culture and sports. At the same time, the Belarusian Head of State accentuated, “Today we have a number of projects on which work is underway, but this is not enough. The situation in the world is not easy now, it’s necessary to make every effort to become closer.”
Africa
Addressing diplomats from the countries of the African continent, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed, “Today we are discovering Africa in a new way. Without Africa, there is no development in the world at all, the future belongs to Africa. We’re keen to expand partnerships with all states of the continent and are ready to discuss any constructive proposals.”
The Belarusian leader is convinced that there is a significant potential for co-operation between Belarus and Ghana, both through political dialogue and through trade-economic co-operation, “The Belarusian side is ready to participate not only in agricultural, but also in infrastructure, energy and educational projects implemented in your country.”
The President is also confident that the time has come for more active contacts with Mauritania, “We boast the competencies and technologies to help your country build up industrial potential, ensure food security, modernise transport infrastructure, and improve the skills of personnel.”
Latin America
The Belarusian Head of State noted that Belarus has been maintaining traditionally friendly relations with many Latin American states.
“Today, we are watching with great interest the growing influence of Mexico in the region. Our states have a productive potential, developed industry and agriculture, the possibilities of which should be used to the maximum in order to increase bilateral trade, despite the fact that you have a very large and developed northern neighbour,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
With mutual interest, Belarus is ready to develop co-operation projects with the Republic of Panama in machine building, processing industry, chemistry and petrochemistry, as well as transport, logistics, and alternative energy.
Our country is also interested in more active relations with Ecuador.
“We offer the Ecuadorian side our services in the mechanisation of agriculture, development of infrastructure, implementation of projects in the field of mining and production of equipment,” the President listed promising areas of co-operation.
