Lukashenko to new BELAZ CEO: never forget of quality
Quality should be never neglected when focusing on volumes and production – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, when making personnel decisions today
The Head of State approved Sergei Lesin, the Deputy General Director – Technical Director of BELAZ JSC – Management Company of BELAZ-HOLDING, for the position of General Director of this holding.
The Belarusian leader asked if there would be a drop in production, and Mr. Lesin informed that all measures are being taken to maintain the pace gained in the previous three years. “The pace was not bad,” the President noted.
According to Mr. Lesin, there has been a certain narrowing of markets, but the company will place a stake on the production of equipment for working in mines. “This point requires our special attention. We are working over this issue in Mogilev already – shifting our prototypes to the main site to speed up this work. There is a serious dropout of western machinery from the market here,” he explained.
Asian manufacturers could not replace their western counterparts, so the Belarusian enterprise has good prospects in this niche. The holding already liaises with Russian Nornickel, and there are certain plans for 2024-2025. There are also serious plans for the production of railway wagons: about 800 of them are expected to be exported this year. Actually, the main targets of the main site for 2024 include diversification by product types: the company plans to produce equipment that has no analogues in Russia or China.
“By expanding the range, we aim to maintain volumes even against the narrowing of the market for dump trucks,” the General Director said.
“Sergei Ivanovich, these plans should not be a distant prospect. You are right to say: it is necessary to take prototypes to the parent company, to produce and sell – but not to forget about the quality!” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
