Lukashenko signed amendments to laws regulating marriage and family relations
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed the law which amends laws regulating marriage and family relations. The document is aimed to improve to regulate such relations, as well as to transform the norms of Decree No. 18 (as of November 24th, 2006) On Additional Measures for State Protection of Children from Disadvantaged Families into the norms of laws, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service.
In particular, the law envisages the consolidation of state bodies’ powers to ensure control over the implementation of measures of state protection of children. A clear mechanism for removing a child by decision of the Commission on Juvenile Affairs is being established, as well as uniform requirements for the content and registration of such decisions.
The document envisages the possibility of transferring residential premises (shares in ownership of them) to the child’s property on account of alimony payments upon conclusion of an agreement by the parents.
Moreover, a requirement is being introduced for citizens of the Republic of Belarus to inform the competent authorities of their state about the registration of acts of civil status in relation to themselves and their minor children in foreign countries.
The main provisions of the law come into force on January 1st, 2025.
