Lukashenko, Putin discussed security issues, upcoming events, visits and implementation of agreements

The presidents of Belarus and Russia, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, have talked over phone today, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service

The heads of state focused on security issues and preventing the escalation of the Ukrainian conflict.

The leaders also discussed the upcoming 11th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, which the Vitebsk Region will host this year, as well as the representation of a Russian delegation at this large-scale event.

The upcoming significant date – 80th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from Nazi invaders – was also among the topics of the conversation, and the presidents discussed the issue of Russia's representation at the July 3rd parade in Minsk, among other points.

During the discussion of the international agenda, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin touched upon the issues of the forthcoming Shanghai Co-operation Organisation Summit in Astana, agreeing to meet there.

As for the economy, the Russian President informed his Belarusian counterpart about the work of the Russian government to implement the agreements reached during his recent official visit to Minsk.

The conversation also touched upon the details and issues of the upcoming visit of the President of Belarus to Mongolia and the Irkutsk Region of Russia.
