Lukashenko: no better tractor school than in Belarus

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko agreed to the appointment of Sergei Avramenko as Director General of the Minsk Tractor Plant (MTZ)

Addressing the new head of the enterprise, the Head of State noted, “You understand what MTZ means for Belarus. This is a brand of brands. Tractor is the main tool of labour everywhere, from streets and courtyards to agriculture. There is no better tractor school in the world than we have in Belarus. It is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of tractor equipment.”

Olga Gorlova will now head the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine. Addressing her, Aleksandr Lukashenko said, “I would really like you to succeed as a very young specialist. The workload is decent, especially at the university, which is very relevant for us. Veterinary medicine is the major problem in agriculture.”

Ivan Demidov is the new CEO of the Belarusian State Association for Procurement, Processing and Supply of Scrap and Waste of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Metals – Belvtorchermet JSC.

The Head of State focused on even more prudent use of secondary resources, “Belvtorchermet is only half working. We need to add another half. I often cite an example with glass. For example, Switzerland probably receives 80-90 percent of the raw materials for new production from scrap glass, while we use less than half. There is definitely where to move forward and from whom to learn. So, the issue is very important in this regard.”

Summarising today’s meeting, the Belarusian leader stressed, “There are candidates for positions in very important enterprises here. You are mostly young people. I really hope that you will succeed.”
