Lukashenko: outdoor sports facilities are growth points for Belarusian sports
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko answered questions from young people during his visit to the Traktor Stadium and communication with the BRSM activists who participated in the reconstruction of the arena as part of student construction teams. One of them concerned sports facilities that are being built in the country on a large scale: a world class swimming pool has recently been opened, and the National Football Stadium is on the way.
The President was asked whether these facilities are the growth points of Belarusian sports.
“No,” the Head of State replied. “The Football Federation Chairman said it right: points of growth are small playgrounds where coaches see and immediately identify promising youngsters. They pick them up and drag them to the top.”
The President stated that the main problem we have is the physical condition of our athletes.
“They are not physically ready to perform at the highest level in certain sports,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “As for football, they can’t run from the first to the last minute, and they have to think, too. Football has become very fast. And where does physical condition come from? From the points of growth: children. That’s why we are equipping sports grounds and building stadiums. We already have a lot of these sites. The main thing is to engage children. Growth points are outdoor sports facilities.”
