Lukashenko on Zelenskyy's legitimacy as President of Ukraine
In an interview with Rossiya TV channel, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko answered a question about the current legitimacy of Volodymyr Zelenskyy as President of Ukraine, BelTA reports
"You know, we can say that he is illegitimate de jure," the Head of State said. In Russia, Volodymyr Zelenskyy's term of office as President is considered expired, referring to the Ukrainian Constitution. “There are questions about his legitimacy de jure,” Aleksandr Lukashenko agreed.
At the same time, the Belarusian leader stated that Volodymyr Zelenskyy de facto makes decisions as Head of State, and these decisions are being implemented. "For example, he made a decision about that madness in the direction of Kursk, and the army is implementing it. He is making other decisions as well – we know about them, and I know – and these decisions are being implemented," the President said.
Concluding the conversation on the legitimacy of the Ukrainian government, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that, from a legal point of view, there is ‘no one there to talk to’, but – in fact – people who led the country earlier continue doing this at present, explaining that the war is going on. These are actually the ones who really make the decisions.
