Speaking about the achievements of the Brest Region in the cultivation of grain crops, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that villages are known not only for grain cultivation, “It was the Brest Region that made a real breakthrough in gardening, and it was also with an emphasis on import substitution. 60 percent of domestic apples come from this region, and early cucumbers — grown in Pinsk and Stolin – are known all over the world. Berries — strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries — were the first in the country to be grown on an industrial scale here. Tulips are now being cultivated, and it is great.”

According to the President, the Brest Region will exceed the milk yield of 7.5 thousand kilograms per cow by the end of the year (20 percent more than the national average) – for the first time in its agrarian history. “We used to think that this was impossible, but it's reality. Based on what has been achieved, you can make new plans. We all know that milk yield depends on what a cow eats, so forage harvesting is no less important than grain harvesting. Four mowing sessions are a common practice for you, so the main thing is not to stop, not to slow down,” he noted.

Aleksandr Lukashenko added that he visited one of the best farms — Parokhonskoye JSC – on October 4th. As he noted, milk yield there reaches 10 thousand kilograms per cow. “I have been watching this farm for more than 20 years, since my first visit there in 2004. I am happy to see that milk, gain, corn and rapeseed yields, as well as profitability are steadily growing at the farm. It is a regional leader and – importantly – constantly coming up with some new ideas. For example, they created a briquette production shop and then launched a vegetable oil line. Later, compound feed began to be produced. Yesterday, I was proudly shown mineral and vitamin herbal granules,” the Head of State said.

At the same time, the President noted that the farm has its own feed base: grain and herbs. A full cycle, up to seed production, is ensured. Beekeeping is also developing.

"We need to take an example from such people — enterprising and persistent, who are wisely using every piece of land," Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
