Lukashenko on key to Belarus’ economic growth and increase of its prestige in world markets

At today’s solemn ceremony honouring agricultural workers at the regional Dazhynki-2024 festival in Volozhin, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko explained what the key to Belarus’ economic growth is, and how the country’s prestige in world markets could be promoted

The Head of State noted that, in Soviet times, the Minsk Region was twice awarded the Order of Lenin for its agricultural successes, and 250 of its natives became Heroes of Socialist Labour (every third one for outstanding achievements in agriculture).

“Our modern history marks two Heroes of Belarus from the Minsk Region. I hope that the golden star will shine more than once on the chest of the natives of our central region. Our growth points are rooted in competent management, innovation, iron technological and production discipline," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The President called the Spartan Agro gardens in Molodechno a good example of how to approach business wisely. “The farmer is not a rival, but a partner for the state. Good initiatives should be stimulated and given the green light. We must support an effective public private sector,” he stressed.

However, regardless of whether it is a state-owned enterprise or a private one, quality is above all, and Aleksandr Lukashenko noted in that regard, “This was the purpose of declaring 2024 Year of Quality. Actually, we have somehow relaxed, we have failed to do everything. In 2025, quality will be given priority. This is the key to our economic growth and the increase of prestige in world markets – which means financial profit. Let’s do our best. Everyone should work hard in the spheres of their responsibility, and then the results will be high. We will then always have the opportunity to raise salaries and pensions, build housing, roads and social facilities.”
