Lukashenko: it's time to raise system of social standards to new level

The time has come to raise the system of social standards in the country to a new level – as noted by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko while speaking at the Dazhynki-2024 festival in Volozhin (Minsk Region) today

Addressing the participants and guests of the holiday – and, accordingly, all Belarusians – the Head of State emphasised, “Look, a lot has already been done in the field of healthcare and education, housing and communal services, culture and sports. The Minsk Region, for example, has become the first territory in the republic with a swimming pool in almost every district.”

The President reminded, “Some time in the past, we introduced a system of minimum social standards, and the time has come to bring them to a new, higher level – to create such comfortable conditions in our regional centres, agro-towns, villages and towns so that people strive to live, work and raise children there, so that they move there from Minsk and big cities (and not on the contrary).”

The Head of State announced a working event planned for the near future: the meeting will be devoted, among other things, to this topic. “People should not be concentrated in 2-3 cities of the country, or even Minsk. The bitter experience of our neighbours suggests that this is a disaster for those who live, for example, in Minsk or Moscow. We need to make sure that our children run barefoot on the grass, breathe fresh air, eat domestically grown food, and – most importantly – not to break away from their native land as a result. They should not look for their happiness somewhere far away, maybe even across the ocean. The most important thing is to ensure that our children want and can work in their homeland. If we generate these real, right values in them since childhood, then we will have no need to worry about the fate of our country,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian leader thanked from the bottom of his heart all those who worked in the fields and farms, in gardens and at processing agro-industrial enterprises. He stated, “Today, from the stage of Dazhynki, I assure you that Belarus – which is exporting food to more than 100 countries of the world – will continue to do everything so that other nations have delicious, high-quality Belarusian products and high yields. We are already doing this, starting from Africa and ending with Asia. I wish all villagers and guests of the festival health, happiness and good mood. May the celebration inspire you to new achievements!”
