Lukashenko on border counter-terrorism operation and detention of saboteurs
During today’s general meeting of members of the Belarusian Republican Union of Consumer Societies (Belkoopsoyuz), the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, explained why he constantly sets tough tasks for the power vertical, insistently demanding to remain on alert
“You are aware where self-complacency leads to. You see what’s going on around you, but you don’t know everything yet. I’ll tell you the main thing, without details, while soon we will inform you on all these issues. Everyone in the West (with our Belarusian fugitives in the forefront regarding the attitude towards Belarus) wants Russia’s defeat in the war with Ukraine. Now, I will quote from the talks between our fugitives and individuals in the West: ‘Poland has the right to Belarus’ western lands. In case of Russia’s defeat, Belarus will grow at the expense of Russian western lands’. They mean that something from the Smolensk, Bryansk, maybe Pskov regions will be added to our land while we must give western Belarus to Poland. How many of you can agree with this? I won’t ever agree. Under no circumstances! We will fight for our lands till the last breath. Moreover, we don’t cause problems for anyone, we don’t owe anyone anything.”
According to the Belarusian leader, we do not lay claim to anyone’s lands, we need our Belarusian lands.
The President said that this morning he has was reported on the successful conduct of the counter-terrorism operation, “Today, several saboteurs have been detained on the Ukrainian border. With the help of drones, some of the Ukrainian citizens crawled through the swamps to our border and transferred explosives to commit sabotage, primarily on the territory of Russia and Belarus. A counter-terrorism operation has just ended, and you didn’t even notice it. It’s good, because it shouldn’t be your concern. You must do your work properly. All the saboteurs were detained, and Belarusians were among them. This happens almost twice or thrice a week. Can we calm down? Definitely not.”
