A memorandum of understanding has been signed between the healthcare ministries of Belarus and Vietnam by Deputy Healthcare Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Starovoitov and his colleague, Deputy Minister of Health of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Chi Thuc, sb.by reports with reference to the Healthcare Ministry’s press service

Aleksandr Starovoitov noted that the signing of the memorandum will be the next starting point for the development of relations. He thanked the Vietnamese side for its readiness and openness to bilateral dialogue, as well as for its contribution to joint activities. “I’m sure this meeting will be fruitful and will be the next step towards expanding our joint partnership,” the Deputy Healthcare Minister said.

The official added that Belarusian medicines have been supplied to Vietnam for more than a decade to ensure drug safety, with the demand for Belarusian pharmaceutical products growing each year. This indicates the real interest of the Vietnamese market in Belarusian-made medicines.

Aleksandr Starovoitov also expressed gratitude to his Vietnamese colleagues for their work on the study and recognition of the system of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) operating in the territory of the states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), including Belarus.

The signed document envisages the support and promotion of co-operation in healthcare and pharmaceuticals via the exchange and sharing of professional knowledge. This refers to four main vectors of relationship development: education and training – from bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes to the development of strategies and directions for the development of professional education systems in healthcare; medical care – exchange of experience and information in the field of medical care, exchange of information on scientific and practical conferences, seminars and specialised exhibitions, improvement of standards for the supervision of non-communicable diseases; digital healthcare – the digital transformation of healthcare and the holding of events for the exchange of experience in the field of digitalisation of healthcare; and pharmaceuticals – the parties plan to provide assistance to representatives of both countries in the pharmaceutical field, participate in the search for mutually beneficial solutions for drug access to markets, organise joint events and consultations on the circulation of medicines in the markets of the parties.
