Lukashenko: newspapers and magazines should become elite media
Smart analytics and sharp journalism are the niche of print media – as stated by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko at today’s Media Community Forum in Mogilev
The Head of State stressed that newspapers and magazines should become elite media, “God grant that this happens – in a good sense and without irony. We can hear increasingly often that paper publications, like theatre, are high art. It is an alluring status, but it must be justified. It is no need to try to compete in efficiency with Internet resources: it is useless. Smart analytics and sharp journalism are the niche of print media. Each edition should have its own heroes.”
The Belarusian leader also touched upon the Internet development. According to him, this is a challenge, since the information field is developing virtually without borders.
“The lack of moral and ethical boundaries is especially worrying. No matter how difficult it is, this challenge must be met – as there is no other way. Our journalists and experts should be more active in the digital environment. It is important to learn how to resist artificial intelligence in recognising the fakes it creates. It is difficult, but it is necessary. We have not thought deeply in this direction yet, but we see that the time has come. You know, this is our opportunity as well,” Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed those present.
