Lukashenko: National Security Concept and Military Doctrine determine strategy for countering risks and threats for coming decades

The second day of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on April 25th was opened by the President of Belarus, Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress Aleksandr Lukashenko. He noted that the day before much was talked about geopolitics at the forum. The events were analysed that had paved the way for today’s agenda and brought the government and society to the most important strategic decisions in national security. New documents have been prepared: the National Security Concept and the Military Doctrine of the Republic of Belarus.

Before submitting new documents for consideration by the Belarusian People’s Congress, the Head of State, as he promised yesterday, dwelt in detail on the military-political situation in the Eastern European region.

“We have prepared materials that are usually heard and discussed exclusively at the Security Council level and during closed meetings of the President with the security bloc. However, today we have to consider and adopt documents that define the strategy for countering risks and threats for the coming decades. Therefore, no lyrics and emotions – only facts on the table! Listen, draw conclusions, think, and make a decision. You have heard more than once that the military-political situation in the region, and in the world as a whole, is assessed by politicians and experts as a crisis with preconditions for transition into a phase of global conflict. Today we’ll talk about what forces and means are used to intensify threats to our national security,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
