Lukashenko, Mirziyoyev adopted joint statement: mutually beneficial co-operation across all areas
The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, and the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, adopted a joint statement. During the high-level negotiations, the heads of state – in an atmosphere of traditional mutual understanding and openness – comprehensively discussed the most important issues of Belarusian-Uzbek relations, identifying key directions for their further development.
The two sides are convinced that the current visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Uzbekistan will give additional impetus to strengthening political dialogue, trade-economic ties, expanding cultural and humanitarian exchanges, inter-parliamentary and interregional interaction. These are main highlights from the two leader’s joint statement.
Belarus and Uzbekistan will continue to make efforts to further develop their partnerships across all areas of mutual interest.
The leaders of the two countries underlined that further expansion of mutually beneficial trade-economic co-operation is a priority direction of Belarusian-Uzbek relations. Positive dynamics of bilateral trade was also noted.
The parties underlined the need to create favourable conditions for active development of mechanisms to support export-import operations, as well as for holding exhibitions of industrial, agricultural, food and technological goods, business forums, meetings and negotiations between business circles on a regular basis.
The presidents noted that interaction between the Belarusian and Uzbek regions is one of the priority areas of bilateral co-operation.
The document also underlines the priority importance of agricultural collaboration, the comprehensive development of ties between the two countries’ agro-industrial complexes and ensuring food security.
The two sides confirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties in culture, education, science, arts, cinematography, tourism, youth policy and sports.
During 2024-2025, it is planned to hold the Days of Belarusian Culture in Uzbekistan and the Days of Uzbekistan Culture in Belarus.
The heads of state noted the need to build up and boost co-operation in the fight against terrorism, illicit drug and weapons trafficking, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and other challenges and threats to regional and international security on the basis of bilateral and multilateral international treaties.
The parties also intend to continue interaction in the international arena and expressed a mutual desire to develop co-operation in the UN, CIS, SCO and other global and regional structures.
