Lukashenko: Minsk should be invited to Ukraine negotiations

Being in the middle of the European continent, Belarus has consistently advocated for peace initiatives and peaceful policies, including where it comes to the Ukrainian conflict settlement, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko said on October 31st, at the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security

The Head of State pointed out a problem and invited everyone in attendance to consider it.

“On the one hand, there is an entire peace plan race going on. We are in favour of any efforts that can de-escalate the situation. On the other hand, due to various countries’ natural alignment to their regional power centres, we see the negotiation process getting fragmented. That makes finding an acceptable compromise more difficult. The faster we pool our efforts, the quicker that compromise is going to be found. We insist that Minsk should be at the negotiating table where the Ukrainian matter is settled. It’s a matter of our security guarantees,” he said.
