Lukashenko met with Zimbabwe President on side-lines of COP29 in Baku
Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko has held a working meeting with President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa on the side-lines of the World Climate Action Summit in Baku
The Head of State warmly greeted his colleague and emphasised that he was glad to meet him, “Mr. President, I am happy to see you active and cheerful, despite all the problems we have in the world.”
“And a compliment to you, too. You look great. And younger, of course,” the President of Zimbabwe said in response.
In this regard, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that it is impossible to compare northern and southern people. The Belarusian leader is sure the latter are much more efficient, active and healthier. Meanwhile, the parties have long-lasting plans, “We still have a lot to do.”
The presidents synchronised their watches on a range of issues relating to the development of bilateral co-operation and prospects for joint work on the African continent.
One of the areas of focus is increased regional co-operation with Zimbabwe’s neighbours, particularly Mozambique.
“I have an idea that we once discussed, that we will meet somewhere, invite the President of Mozambique and build our joint relations. We will make it so that you will have your own ports in Mozambique and we will liaise with you more effectively and actively through them,” the President of Belarus outlined.
