Lukashenko informed on whether Belarusian grain will be exported
Speaking to journalists in the Myadel District, the Head of State answered a question on whether Belarus plans to export grain
“We could export it if we harvested an extra million [of tonnes] and if we had a surplus. So far, I do not see that we can export grain. We must feed our people and support our neighbours: people from Lithuania, Latvia and Poland are coming, wishing to buy – so let them buy. Our trade will make some money on this. This is profitable, on the one hand. We will also help people [by doing so], and they will be grateful. They will not fight against us, at the very least,” the President noted.
Aleksandr Lukashenko added that a product with a higher price and a higher added value can be produced from grain: i.e. modern feeds. The Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation is already engaged into this. Another option – also more profitable – is to use grain in animal husbandry to get milk and meat products. “If a farm produces grain, then it should also produce milk and meat,” the President stressed.
In this regard, the Head of State considers it important to increase livestock numbers to get more meat and milk.
