Lukashenko headed to Russia to attend CIS and EAEU summits

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has left on a working visit to the Russian Federation to participate in the summits of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Eurasian Economic Union, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service

The traditional informal meeting of the CIS heads of state will take place on December 25th in St. Petersburg. The CIS leaders will summarise the results of the year and discuss the prospects for integration co-operation.

On December 26th, Aleksandr Lukashenko will also take part in the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The meeting of the heads of state will be held in a narrow and expanded format. The agenda of the meeting includes about two dozen issues. The EAEU leaders will discuss the strategic directions of the union’s activities, including the progress in the formation of common energy markets and further harmonisation of legislation, prospects for co-operation with third countries, as well as a number of working issues.

During the meeting, the President is expected to announce the goals and priorities of Belarus’ chairmanship of the EAEU in 2025.
